Clarification

An article came out today in the Eagle Times which was an interview done with me. Generally the article isn't bad but their are some ambiguous statements and some that seem to contradict each other. So I want to clarify a bit what was being said in the article.

First, We will not be playing songs from the radio every week. I used Bon Jovi's song as an example when I was explaining to Andrea that we are planning on using songs that people know to help them discover spiritual meaning in their lives. And a series that I was considering doing this in was the "God in my ipod" one. So again, we will not be playing songs from the radio every week.

Second, I was quoted as saying that we won't be serious with our relationship with God. It's actually quite the opposite. We are very serious about our relationship with God but not about religion. Religiosity kills relationships. So we are not going to take ourselves seriously. But our relationship with God is a very serious matter. And yes I do believe God has a wonderfully wicked sense of humor. After all He made me. Also she asked me if we "shake when we pray" and I said no. We are Pentecostal but we don't act crazy in our services. You would never know it if you came to our services. We ARE NOT GOING TO BE SHAKING AND DOING CRAZY STUFF!

Third, it has been our goal all along to launch the church large by having 200 people in attendance. I was quoted as saying numbers are important and they are not important. That is a contradiction. What I was saying was there are people who think that numbers don't matter to God so if the church is small or large it doesn't matter. But I believe numbers matter to God since He decided to have a book called "Numbers" in the Bible. Yes every seat represents a soul so we are trying our best to fill the theater. But our focus is on reaching as many people as possible and if only 100 people show up we are fine with that. But we are still going to try to fill the theater. After all a healthy church is a growing church.

So I am not trying to rebutt the article, I just wanted to explain further what was being said.
