Monday Morning Mantra

It seems like I have been so busy that I have had only time to post MMM's. Oh well. You're all very forgiving. Thanks.

Went to men's retreat this past week. Had a blast with Dave Gobin. I will not mention the other person who went because my patience was tried to the limit with him. The break-out sessions were good and getting to know people and seeing ones I knew was fun too. Friday was awesome. We woke up, got some DD and then went to a devotional service where we took communion. Then we took off after that and played golf all day. It was a beautiful day too. About 75 degrees and sunny. Perfect day. Can't wait for next year.

Here are a couple of quotes from the guest speaker Doug Reed, a pastor from another district.

"Only fight the battles that are attached to your destiny. Walk away from all others."

"Exposure to God's word without repentance can harden one's heart."

"There is nothing that Satan can do for his evil cause that he does not do. We may be half-hearted, but he never is. He is the very image of ceaseless industry and untiring earnestness. He will do all that can be done in the time of his permitted rage. We may be sure that he will never lose a day." Charles Spurgeon

We had a great service yesterday. Several new families visiting. I love Riverstone Church. This church blows my mind with the way they love each other and care for each other. And it is all very spiritual yet not churchy. I can definitely say that if I was not the pastor of Riverstone Church I would attend. It is filled with people of high calibre. Thank God for such a wonderful place to serve.

Guess what? 24 is on tonight. It is the season finale. Two hours long. Should be great. Can't wait.

Just got done reading "Band of Brothers" by Stephen Ambrose. I love the HBO mini series and own it on dvd. The book gives me a better perspective on it all. Good read. Now I am reading "We Were Soldiers...And Young Once." by Lt. Gen. Moore and Joe Galloway. That is on the la Drang Valley battle during 1965 in Vietnam. Very interesting book and I have the movie too, which is a favorite.
