District Council

Had a great district council in Manchester, NH the last couple of days. Man it is so different up here. Down in SNED there was always a fight at council. Some pastors knew their constitution and by-laws like the back of their hands and they used it. Never liked going to those. Here in NNED it is a cake walk. Everyone shows respect to each other and the business gets done quickly.

Only two resolutions this year. One they were trying to take care of the loop holes that allow AG churches to leave the fellowship. My personal take on that is if the pastor and a few people want to leave the AG then they should do so physically. What do I mean by that? Basically, the pastor should show some character by resigning his AG church and starting a new one rather than taking the building, money and people away from the AG. As far as I am concerned any pastor who takes an AG church out of the AG has some serious character deficiency. If they don't like what is going on, resign your credentials and resign your church and go join another one or start a new one rather than destroying the spiritual history of a church for your own selfish motives.

The second resolution dealt with the Baptism in the Holy Spirit and the initial physical evidence. They wanted to reaffirm our position on this and continue to require credential holders to be Baptized in the Holy Spirit and teach it. This one I was split on. I absolutely agree with the resolution but to continue to affirm this doctrine and make it a requirement of teaching moves us down the path to denominationalism. That is one thing the AG tries to pride itself on is that we have freedom in our fellowship. So resolutions like this need to be considered seriously. Again, I voted for it, I agreed with it but I think we need to be careful with these kinds of resolutions.
