It's important to understand the reason for prophecy before we really delve into it. So here is some stuff to ponder.
Rev. 19:10 - "For the testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of prophecy."
Bible prophecy demonstrates the character and purpose of God. It is a declaration of God's plan. Many will mock prophecy. (2 Peter 3:1-7) Regardless of a persons personal philosophy or prejudice, the final judgment of God is a reality which all will face. Biblical prophecy is God's method of encouraging humanity to preparefor that day.
"Because he hath appointed a day, in which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead." Acts 17:31
Some may say that Christ's coming is slow. "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." (2 Peter 3:8)
We are not to speculate on when Jesus will return. So what are we to do while we wait for the coming of the Lord?
Acts 1:7-8 - "And he said unto them, it is not for you to know the times or seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall recieve power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: you shall be my witness unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."
Matt. 24:36 - "But of that day and hour knows no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only."
I'll post the rest of this tomorrow.
