I've been reading Bonhoffer and last night I was reading about his thoughts on sin and daily confession. I was so reminded that in our Christian walk we need to keep short accounts with God. That means that when we sin and blow it we confess it, receive His forgiveness and move forward. Don't let sin continue. Confess it right away. Keep a short account.
I love what John says in 1 John 1:8-10, "If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us."
I was actually really glad to be reminded of something so simple yet often overlooked by myself and others. Humility comes through prayer. God wants us to be humble so, we must "humble ourselves in the sight of the Lord." Or we will find that we will be humbled.
I encourage you, today, right now, confess your sins before God, humble yourself and He will cleanse you from all unrighteousness. Keep short accounts with God. Start now.
