Thought I would get back in the habit of doing this post.
We had a great day yesterday. Pretty much what we expected. Church planters and church planting books all said, "you will get half of what you had on launch Sunday." It was almost exactly that. But we had a good time never the less. Set up and break down went smooth. We met some new people and everyone enjoyed the service. Two Sunday's down, from here to eternity left.
We have been trying to podcast our services for the last two weeks. Let me just say what a huge pain in the butt that has been. I am actually hoping to get the thing up today on the site. Man!!
I love other church planters. They get it. They know just when you need encouragement and what type of advice to give. I got one such friend, Joe Cyr, down at Life! church. They are knocking it out of the park. Thanks Joe.
Well, I'm transitioning from church planter mode to pastor mode now. I think I will always have that church planting edge. I need to do things bigger and better. God wired me that way. But I can relax a bit too because launch is over and now the hard work begins. I have actually been looking forward to this time because it allows me and my family to get back into some kind of life rythm that isn't crazy. We have been so unsettled for so long, we forgot what normal was.
One thing I have learned about church planting is you can never pray enough. I wished we prayed more as a team. We spent a lot of time planning and we did pray but I should have done more. We can make up for it now. The reason I say this is because we had so many people cancel on us for launch Sunday that it wasn't a coincidence. The devil was having his way. We would have easily broken a hundred if all these people came. People were getting sick, getting into car accidents, flat tires. The rain was coming down like cats and dogs and we heard about people who decided to stay home because of it. Way too many people stayed away for one reason or another and that my friends is the devil trying his best to discourage us. IT DIDN'T WORK! We were pumped.
