Leadership Tidbits

When we went to Minister's Retreat this past week we heard from Dr. Don Myers, president of Valley Forge Christian College in Penn. He shared with us some leadership principles that I want to share with you.

He titled his seminar "Biblical Leadership" and started with the four styles of leadership, which should be present in pastoral leadership. Servants, stewards, seers and shepherds. The key to effective leadership is character and competency. You must have both.

Competency starts with a declaration: "I am responsible for my own leadership." The way to be responsible for ones own leadership is to ask the right questions.

There are three categories these questions fall under.
1. Four Big Questions
2. Five Practical Questions
3. Four Ultimate Questions

So I will end this post with the Four Big Questions.

1. What does it mean to be a Christian? personal and professional
2. What does it mean to lead and follow?
3. Why am I doing what I am doing?
4. What does it mean to be a pastor? or whatever profession you are in?

In my next few posts I will pose the next questions for Practical and Ultimate.
