Lessons part 2

Trust

I think one thing that God is trying to teach us over and over is to continually trust Him not only in the good times but the trying ones too. Like I said in my last post, we struck out to start a new church which in essence is starting over in ministry for us. We moved back to NH and to a new district. Now we are meeting new people and trying to build our influence once again.

We went through a very rough time trying to sell our home. We had received a couple of offers on our home but the people buying turned out the be real jerks. I will talk more about this in another post but for now we literally had no idea if the people who put an offer on our house was actually going to follow through to the end. We didn't pack our house until two weeks before closing. It was an EXTREMELY stressful time for us. But God kept reminding me to trust Him. Don't give into doubt.

There is no doubt in my mind that God is faithful. We wondered if we would ever get out of CT and now we are in NH. We are living with out In-laws because we couldn't find a suitable home in Claremont. Again we are forced to trust God for a new home although we have exhausted the market. We have literally looked at 60-70 homes over this past year. But we are still waiting on God.

Also I took a big pay cut to plant a church. That is hard because we found out homes are more expensive in NH and the taxes much higher. Again we have to trust God for the finances.

Once we put all our possessions in storage God again was testing our trust in Him. About two weeks after everything was stored away a big fire erupted in a building attached to the storage units. I traveled up the next day not knowing what to expect. But I did trust God that even if all our worldly possessions burned in the fire that we would still serve Him. God did protect our things. They were dry, unburned and not a hint of the smell of smoke on our stuff.

The lesson God is teaching us is that we have to trust Him for everything. You can never get to a point in your life where you don't need to rely on God. If you do you are in trouble. The Bible does not say that if you do God's will that everything will go smoothly. Most often times it doesn't. So we must trust that God is in control of all of it. Especially when it doesn't make sense.
