Monday Morning Mantra

Had a really great weekend. Spent some time with a friend whipping his butt at golf. Then went into Claremont to the chili fest cookoff. That was a good time. Hung out with my family.

The NE Pats are the best team in the NFL. They have won five straight games with 34 points or more. I can't wait for the game against the Colts.

BOSOX swept the Angels. It is a good day in Boston. Another World Series win would be really, really great.

Reading a book called "No Perfect People Allowed". Just started it and I like the premise. That is where I am going with the church plant. If you think you are better than everyone else or more spiritual then this won't be the church for you.

We are almost done with the sale of our house. Now we just have to find somewhere to live. Checked a house out to rent Sat. and it didn't meet our needs. So we shall see.

It seems to me for some people think to have a church that is culturally relevant means that the church will do things that are sinful or inappropriate in order to reach people. That has got to be the dumbest thought. What I mean by it is since we are going to be a church for the unchurched, instead of talking Christianese and acting holier than thou, we are going to use language that they understand and offer ministries that meet their needs. There are plenty of churches out there that cater to the Christians. They expect anyone new to conform to their language and community. And if they don't they are not welcome. Or to put it more simply, we are going to put the cookies on the bottom shelf for them. Make it easier for them to hear the Gospel and give their lives to Christ. Anyone who thinks it should be hard for someone to come to Christ has mental issues.
