Well, no luck yesterday. We got home late last night. Lisa and I looked at two houses and one is a possibility but the major drawback is the bedrooms are very small and may not fit our furniture. We think we will keep on looking. The problem is there is nothing else to look at. We exhausted the market for our price range. Now we have to wait for new homes to come up on the market. We will be putting our stuff in storage until we get a home. And we will be living with my In-Laws for a little while. So that means I will be traveling to Claremont from Manchester for a while to try to get things going. Please continue to pray for us as we try to find a home.
Lisa and I were discussing why it was so hard to find a home. The same thing happened in Stafford too. I asked her, "What do you expect? We are in ministry for God and we have an enemy who does not want us to pastor a church or plant a church. Why not make it hard on us." I also said, "If we were moving somewhere we wanted to go just to live and not do ministry it would probably end up being the easiest move we ever had." If we were not doing anything to advance the kingdom of God, Satan would not need to bother with us because we would be doing what he wanted. But because we have set our hearts on doing God's will Satan opposes us at every turn.
I believe once again God is teaching us the principle of sacrifice. We sacrificed more than anyone would know to be at Stafford Springs and now we are sacrificing much more to go to Claremont. Sacrifice is a huge part of an effective ministry and an acceptable worship of God.
When Kind David built his house in Jerusalem he set to build a place of worship for God and decided on buying Araunah's threshing floor. When Araunah saw David coming he said, "Let my lord the king take whatever pleases him and offer it up." I think to most people, anything free would be an opportunity to shout "Praise the Lord", but David refused. He said, "No, I insist on paying you for it. I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing." Amazing.
Lisa and I are viewing the sacrifices we are making to go to Claremont as an act of worship and seeds for planting this new church. I know God is going to do some amazing things there and we are learning to wait on God's timing. God is definitely in control and we are going to let it stay that way.
