Launch Timer

I know some of you are wondering what is going on with the timer on top. And what's with the name?

Yes, I have finally decided on a name for the church, Riverstone Church. I've been asked the spiritual significance of it and to be honest, it ain't got much. I wanted to use a name that had something in common with Claremont, rather than the city name in the church name. You see, the Sugar River flows right through town and dumps into the Connecticut River which flanks the whole west side of Claremont. Also wanted a name that would seem welcoming to the unchurched and separated us from any previous assumptions of what the church used to be. We are doing a brand new work and need a brand new name.

But we are 100% AG and we are not ashamed of it. People will know who we are when they come into the church. We are not hiding that fact but the reality is un-churched people generally do not care about denominational affiliation. That is a church people thing. So we are not going to emphasize that in our name.

But for those who want to make it spiritual we can say that as the stones in the Sugar River have been smoothed over by the rushing waters that God is in the process of smoothing our edges out through His Spirit in order to make us more like Christ. That works. ;)

Also, the timer is set to the year, month, day and time of our first service as Riverstone Church. For those who are having trouble figuring that out we are looking to launch Sept. 14, 2008 at 9:45 am. Hope that helps.
