The Week After

It's always the same. Every year, the week after Easter is like a detox time. In planning and preparing for the Easter service we build up this momentum and anticipation that drives us to that day. And as usual we are blown away by what God does. Easter is the biggest day of the year for us around here. So we obviously put more time into planning that service. When I got home after the service I told Lisa, I could tell I preached today. I was wiped out. I desperately wanted to sleep, but the Masters was on. ;) So I have been trying to catch up on some sleep here and there everyday. I think I may have caught it.

The other phenomenon that happens the week after Easter is that people go AWOL. Literally every year, the Sunday after Easter is half the size of the Easter crowd. People just leave on vacation, or decide to take the rest of the year off and come back in the fall, or who knows what. It drives me nuts every year but not this time, I am ready for it. We had a bunch of people who didn't even show up for Easter and I'm talking about members. That is just weird. Who skips church on Easter. But in all of this, God has reminded me that this is His church not mine. These are His people not mine. So my blood pressure is a little lower now. Anyway just thought I would share a little of what I go through every year.
