As I am studying for my message on Sunday I am reminded of Christmas's past. I am reminded of the shepherds in scripture. They were marginalized, and cast aside. No one wanted to hang with them. They were the weirdo's of society. Often overlooked.
Yet God did not overlook them. That first Christmas night God decided to use shepherds to be the first to hear and share the greatest message for the world. Those society marginalizes and ignores, God lifts up and is close to. He diginifies them as worthy to hear such a great message. He confirms that they to are worthy human beings. Worthy because God gave His all to redeem all of humankind.
I too was often overlooked and marginalized because of my economic status. Poor was an understatement. Many times I didn't receive the invite to parties or asked to be part of things that other kids were. Somehow my mom found a way to give us gifts for Christmas. There was many a time we didn't have food in the cupboards. Yet God reached down and redeemed my life and healed my hearts hurts. Not only that but He called me to do the same. God help me and forgive me if I have marginalized and overlooked people that you have proclaimed worthy.
I hope and pray this Christmas season that you and I would find the time to ask God to help us to see those marginalized people who desperately need a touch from God through us. That we may be agents of healing and not further hurt. That this Christmas someone will find the Healer of hearts, the Redeemer of mankind, the Prince of Peace, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father.
Listen to this song and remember where you came from and the times you received a touch from God through someone who listened to him.
