As I am reading through my Bible, I often come across things that just don't make sense. I'm not a Bible scholar by any stretch of my imagination, although I know what it says. But as I am reading I come across references that make me think. One in particular is in Exodus where God is speaking to Moses from the burning bush about what He wants him to do. He says that Pharoah will harden his heart against Moses and Israel. But God also says He will harden Pharoah's heart. I don't get it. I've studied this out and know what the scholars say but it still doesn't make sense.
Is God in the business of hardening peoples hearts toward Him? I know in Revelation, in the end times, people will continue to harden their hearts toward God, even when he sends plagues, just like the Pharoah. But that still leaves me with the question, does God harden peoples hearts against him? It would seem God would want to soften peoples hearts toward Him.
I just can't believe God would harden peoples hearts. It seems to me it says in the scriptures that people who continue to sin, will be given over to their sins. I can understand that the Holy Spirit will not contend with people as they continue to reject his voice and live in sin. It is a hard saying and a question that I am pondering.
