Clearing my mind

It's just what the doctor ordered. Yesterday was 75 degrees and slightly breezy. For the last day of March that is fantastic. So who am I to look a gift horse in the mouth. I said thank you God and went golfing, after I did my work of course. I met a couple of guys named Joe and John. They were both members where I played and we had a good time. Basically I am picking up on my golf game where I left off in Oct. 05. But slightly better. That is a very good sign. Every year I start out really rough and by the end of the season I'm playing well. Not this year.

Anyway, every pastor has their thing to get away. Mine is golf and reading. These two things help me take my mind off of things that are bothering me about the church. Don't let anyone kid you, pastoring is a 24 hour a day job. I don't stop being a pastor when I leave the office. I am what I am. That's what makes this the strangest thing I have ever done.

On the one hand this really is my job. I get paid to be the pastor of SCWC. But on the other hand this is my calling from God. That basically means I would do this for nothing. Don't get me wrong, I prefer the salary. It helps pay the bills and put food on the table and to play golf;). But for 6 years I was an assistant pastor and got paid nothing. And I gladly did it. That is the difference between those who do it as a profession and those who do it our their calling. Anyway, golf helps me to continue in my calling without going insane sometimes.

You may be right about that. Aren't you running the asylum now?
