Scarier Places

Once crazy phenomenon that is taking place is the facination in paranormal investigation on tv shows. With Holloween just around the corner they are doing a 24 hour type of marathon of where they send families into haunted castles and houses to see if they experience anything. It is funny to watch as seemingly normal people turn into paranoid crazies. They go in laughing and come out afraid.

But as scary as ghosts may sound, Jesus said there is something even more scary. Luke 12:4-5 says, "I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. But I will show you whom you should fear; Fear him who, after your body has been killed, has authority to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him." (TNIV)

There are many things to fear in this world; demons, sickness, death, war, famine, and whatever you can imagine but Jesus said, don't be afraid of what might harm you physically but what can be done to your spirit. We are to fear God. Only He has the authority to cast our souls into hell.

So how do we fear God? We do that by believing in His Son and agreeing with God what His word says about us. The Bible says "There is no one righteous, no not one."(Romans 3:10) and "All have sinned and fall short of God's glory" (Romans 3:23) "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9)

To reject God's Son is to accept the scarier place. You might be scared by a tv show but that does not compare to an eternity in Hell. Will you believe in Christ today? Will you agree with God about your condition? If so, just ask God to come into your heart and become the director of your life. When you do, God's Holy Spirit will become your comforter.
