My heart and prayers go out the the victims of the hurricane Katrina disaster. I thank God for all the Christians who are stepping up and putting their faith into action. But there are those who view this as a divine act of judgment from God on New Orleans and the surrounding areas. I have to tell you I don't buy that. I believe there is a natural order of things in this world set by God.
Did He know this was going to happen? Yes. Is He the cause of it? No
How is it that God would send judgment onto a place that is filled with Christians when His word says in Romans 8:1 that "There is therefore no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." God does not condemn Christians to judgment. I think some well intentioned Christians have been misguided or just ignorant of God's word to say that it is. We are under the grace of God and not His judgment. We do not live under the law of death but under the law of love.
Although I could go into a diatribe about this and have three pages of words on this subject, I just want to say that God is not pouring out his wrath on the South but His love through the church.
